Rue Hues {Black, White, & Gold}
Hi there! I’m Mackenzie from Design Darling and today I’m featuring my favorite color combination from Rue’s fourth issue. I love the dog print wallpaper in Bailey McCarthy’s powder room and the contrast of poppy brights against the black, white, and gold. Bonnee Sharp’s foyer — and coordinating outfit, for that matter! — employ a similar palette. Both spaces remind us that whatever your accent colors, you can never go wrong with black, white, and a dash of glamour.

LOVE. This was also my favorite feature in the latest and greatest RUE issue. Such whimsy paper and a beautiful palette! Time for me to dig out that old gold mirror out of storage…great job, mackenzie!

I painted my antique frames on mirrors and picture gold, added gold burn out curtains, a smoky grey duvet, a glossy white manequin, an oversized large, gilded cherub lamp one wall of black chevron wallpaper and green window plants and patterrned pillow to bedroom. Looks out to gardenso I was influenced by that. Walk through hallway to bath is gold, black, white with punch of hot pink on painted chandelier and framed prints from John Currin and my own paintings. One wall is covered in various sized gold gilded frames of family dating back to great grandparents while opposite has a rack with all of my frilly roantic clothes, hats and shoes. Very girly while rest of apt is Danish modern with lots of woods, whites and period furniture. Love these colors!
