As one of Atlanta’s premier lifestyle experts, Danielle Rollins knows a thing or two about the perfect party. This Southern gal channels “the style of Grace Kelly, the wit of Lucille Ball, and the decorating and entertaining approach of Dorothy Draper (mixed with a little fantasy from the ever-imaginative, flamboyant Elsie de Wolfe),” and with each event she hosts, she “encourages others to celebrate any and every opportunity to create a memory.” Danielle proudly sets the standard for Gracious Living and Stylish Entertaining™ (which is also the theme of her new book), and has a lot of fun while doing it:
MY LIGHTBULB MOMENT:
Having Oscar de la Renta tell me that I was talented and needed to write a book. It’s amazing how one comment can change the course of your life. His confidence in me changed everything.
I CAN’T START MY DAY UNTIL:
I have had the first sip of an ice cold Diet Coke, checked my emails, perused my favorite blogs, looked at my social media and allowed my brain to wake up. I am NOT a morning person!
Following your dreams, learning because the opportunity is there, being passionate about whatever you love, leaving things better than you found them, and having a sense of purpose to make the world a better place, not just taking up space. To me personally, no matter what else I accomplish, unless my children are instilled with these values, I will have failed.
YOU’LL NEVER SEE ME WITHOUT:
Curled eyelashes, a little eyebrow pencil and lipstick.
MY DREAM COLLABORATION:
Can I squeeze more than one into a day?? In my ultimate dream day, I’d meet with Miles Redd in the morning to work on the finishing touches of a Gil Schafer designed home. Next, I’d head to a fitting of the perfect dress with Oscar de la Renta in his showroom. Then, I’d spend the afternoon in the garden alongside Bunny Mellon (if she were still alive today), cook dinner with Thomas Keller, and for a finale finish, co-host a party with the fabulous Carolyn Roehm.
THE ONLY PLACE BETTER THAN ATLANTA:
Paris! I dream about living in Paris with the love of my life, around Rue de Grenelle in the 7th Arrondissement in a lovely old building with a door I would paint my signature turquoise. You know those kind of places that have been around forever with beautiful moldings and large windows that look best decorated very simply and somewhat modern! I never get tired of being in Paris. I love being able to walk everywhere and everything is a visual treat and constant source of inspiration for me.
WHEN I FEEL UNINSPIRED:
I daydream, often while sitting outside in my garden watching the birds, playing with my dogs and enjoying fresh air and sunshine. I also love to look through old stacks of magazines or one of my many design, cooking, or fashion books.
ADVICE I WISH I HAD 5 YEARS AGO:
People should earn your loyalty; it is not automatically a given. “Actions speak louder than words” is a fantastic motto to embrace!
IN 5 YEARS FIND ME:
Gracious Living and Stylish Entertaining™ taken to another level, with another book, a bigger website presence and my own media outlet. Possibly with the love of my life…….hey, it could happen!
ABOVE ALL ELSE:
Believe in yourself, focus on grit and gratitude and you will get much further than only having aptitude and attitude.
