For 10 years, Adam Hunter was a Broadway star – an impressive accomplishment on its own. After a decade of leading roles, he decided to leave New York City for the West Coast, landing in Los Angeles with a new dream in mind. In 2005, he designed the acclaimed Kate Somerville Spa on Melrose and immediately was hailed as the new it-designer – with the likes of Vogue and Time Magazine singing his praises. His refined style is known for elegance, drama, and positivity, garnering him a hefty list of celebrity clientele – including Neil Patrick Harris, James Caan, Jennifer Coolidge, and Christina Hendricks. This spring, he launched a collection with The Rug Company (and we can’t wait to get our hands on it!). Of course, given the opportunity to talk to this notable designer? We’d never miss it. We took 5 Minutes With Adam and were laughing the entire time:

MY LIGHTBULB MOMENT:
A few years back, I was on the phone with a famous “Desperate Housewife” asking me to design her home while I had my agent on the other line asking me if I’d like to audition for “Desperate Housewives.”

I CAN’T START MY DAY UNTIL:
Double Shot Americano from Alfred’s Coffee in West Hollywood.

SUCCESS IS:
My collaboration with The Rug Company. Being in the company of the great Alexander McQueen, Diane Von Furstenberg, Paul Smith, etc. is the crown jewel of my career so far, and living your best life and being true to yourself.

YOU’LL NEVER SEE ME WITHOUT:
My Nikes and my iPhone. Maybe I am an Angeleno.

 MY DREAM COLLABORATION:
Person: Baz Lurhmann. Brand: Apple.

THE ONLY PLACE BETTER LA:
Paris. Or NYC.

WHEN I FEEL UNINSPIRED:
I probably belt some show tunes about my lack of inspiration. Very Lea Michele like.

ADVICE I WISH I HAD 5 YEARS AGO:
I can’t please everyone. I’m not a jar of Nutella.

IN 5 YEARS FIND ME:
As a dad.

ABOVE ALL ELSE:
Live a high-roaded life, be immaculate with your word, and be kind to others.
