It’s no secret that for the general public, there aren’t many textiles resources out there… Thinking about reupholstering a flea-market find? Your options are limited. That’s because the most prominent fabric and wallpaper companies are “to the trade” only. But that’s about to change. Studio Four is a New York based space that allows anyone (designer or shopper) to have access to fabric, wallpaper, and rug collections from small, cutting edge designers. Think of it as the Barneys of textiles.
Don’t worry if you feel out of your league when it comes to wallpapers or rugs. Studio Four welcomes everyone, whether you have an appointment or not, and is there to help you navigate all of the options. Vintage rugs, hand-made fabrics and hanging wallpaper sculptures will inspire your next project. Founders, Stacy Waggoner and Kate Reynolds have searched the market for up-and-coming designers and artisans who have a unique perspective to give you some truly original options. Some of our favorites include Brian Paquette’s Nantes wallpaper or Abnormals Anonymous’ entomology inspired fabrics. We love the creativity that each collection possesses and we love the idea that unique textiles are just a quick visit away. For those that are not New York based, they sell a few of their fabrics, rugs, pillows and wallpapers online. The inspiration part is easy, now you just have to figure out which one you want for your vintage arm chair.
