Party Time: Dessert Two Ways

End a ladies' lunch with a perfect pairing of simple desserts and charming ceramics.

In our newest issue we showed you Editor-in-Chief Crystal Gentilello’s bridal shower (and shared more on Rue Daily today!) A shower is the perfect reason to gather your girlfriends and enjoy dainty treats but we can think of a half-dozen other reasons. A birthday, engagement, or just a nice Sunday afternoon, to start. Rue teamed up with food stylist Erin Quon and photographer Katie Newburn to imagine a pairing of desserts and our favorite ceramics that is just perfect to end a ladies lunch.

Hosting an event can be taxing so we suggest to keeping it simple to end the meal. For a hint of something sweet, try a pairing of meringues and macaroons, both which can be found at your local bakery and adorned with seasonal fruit. Since it’s June in California, we have raspberries but select what looks fresh at your farmers market or grocery. Arranged on a collection of ceramics from Sue Fisher King, including the Astier de Villatte Marguerite Bowl On Stand, Side Plate, and a handle-less Tea Cup that we re-imagined into a bowl. To complement the rustic details, we choose the Astier de Villatte Simple Side Plate to serve our final arranged creation. You don’t have to go over the top to create a beautiful end to your events.
