When lifestyle & entertaining expert Kelly Lee of Kelly Golightly and interior designer Dee Murphy of Murphy Deesign first met, both style mavens and bloggers bonded over their mutual love of fashion, interiors and entertaining. Later they would find out, often via each other’s blog and Instagram posts (ah, modern friendship), that their closets and homes featured many of the same items. However, the way in which each styled the items was completely different. “I am always inspired by Dee’s cool-girl, eclectic approach, says Lee. “And I love Kelly’s ladylike, vintage-glamour,” says Murphy.

So it was only natural that the two would team up to create a dazzling holiday tabletop…two ways! Set in the beautiful Rolling Greens Nursery and featuring some of the same items (placemats, flatware, faux fur runners), their interpretations are vastly different, yet still cohesive, both featuring an inviting mix of high and low. We love both!

Check out their take on holiday entertaining, from Lee’s girly-glam tabletop to Murphy’s woodland-glam tabletop, to get inspired for merrymaking of your own…

First, find fabric for placemats, runners and linens. Out of thousands of fabrics at Thomas Lavin showroom in Los Angeles, both Lee and Murphy were instantly drawn to a black-and-white woven fabric by Romo called Xilia. Both chose it as their starting point and made placemats from it. “Black and white goes with everything,” says Murphy. “And is classic and modern at the same time,” adds Lee.

Both Lee and Murphy also fantasized about incorporating faux fur. “We realize it’s not exactly practical for everyday, but Christmas only comes once a year, so why not go for it,” says Lee. While she chose Zinc’s arctic fox for her table runner to evoke a snowy feel, Dee opted for Zinc’s faux raccoon fur. “Faux-fur and animal prints of any pattern are a MUST for winter décor,” says Dee. “Thrown on a table with some LED votives or flameless candles, and you’ve created a luxe, yet cozy environment (sans candle-wax mess)!”

From there it was off to the races. Take a peek at what each design guru created and be sure to visit Kelly Golightly and Murphy Deesign for more details!
